Preparation

Romans12: 16 New English Translation (NET Bible)

16 Live in harmony with one another; do not be haughty

but associate with the lowly. Do not be conceited.

Looking out over the beach and the dunes behind me

In the distance past the water the horizon winks

It seems to all come together just to remind me

that somewhere in time and space the future sings

Not ours to understand only just to accept it as fact

Not all the probing will clarify this part of destiny

Only through revelation and wisdom’s sullen impact

Some light will shine abroad towards life’s harmony

Is there not a place available where serenity expands?

Replacing man’s stubborn will with issues of the heart

Has not the preparation settled in the Promised Land?

Has not the Eternal sphere molded everyone in part?

Is it not division that strikes and tears at one’s only-ness?

Is it not forms of selfishness that scratches away at peace?

Is it not human nature that embraces desired loneliness?

In search of reasons to complain so their hearts to freeze

Is it not the strand of life on the beach of our existence?

Don’t our human footsteps disturb all that seems right?

Is it not our nature that proves through sly persistence?

That we’re falling short ... no matter how hard we try?
