The Prayer

Now I lay me down to sleep

A thunder cloud had followed me

Then dark shadows began to creep

My composure was asleep

instinct was key

In me dread was deep

In bed I lay deep

In thought, my imagination ran free

It was then I began to weep

How was I to know spirits would leap

From every crevice they would free

Themselves as if I was theirs to keep

At night my prayers I would reap

Just to see

If it would help me sleep

If I lie awake, fear will creep

I can't let it get the best of me

Now I lay me down to sleep

I pray the lord my soul to keep
