Pouring Rain

I dipped my toes into the cold water

it was pleasant

it reminded me of my heart

I thought it did, I thought it did

but it didn't

it wasn't really my heart

My heart was gold

heavy and loud and

ugly

It really reminded me of my thoughts

cold, dark, horrible, unwanted

craving a morose nature

I splashed in that puddle

then I splashed in more, and

more until I had splashed in every single one

Then all the fun was gone

There were no more puddles to splash and play in

Just me and the pouring rain
