The Pounding

The pounding keeps beating in my head,

I run, and run, and run some more,

The pounding keeps beating in my head,

Away from that thing that was my home,

The pounding keeps beating in my head,

My feet beating down on the road,

The pounding keeps beating in my head,

My tears pouring out hot and fast,

The pounding keeps beating in my head,

Hours pass and I still don’t stop,

The pounding keeps beating in my head,

I stop, and think and think and think,

The pounding keeps beating in my head,

How much regret would befall me,

The pounding keeps beating in my head,

And the pain relentlessly beating down,

The pounding keeps beating in my head,

I walk back to the place that is my home,

The pounding stops.
