Porcelain Smile

You can paint the strokes of a beautiful picture

Sprinkle as much emotion as you like

You can enlighten the music with your voice

Shading in sour notes with defiant drums

Meanwhile you struggle to hide your porcelain smile

Easily shattered and thrice as hard to mend

You can turn your back on the demons of your past

Leaving sacrilege at the bottom of the ocean

You can write of warm colors in the mind

Pretending to write the blues out of your heart

You step into the world with your porcelain smile

Easily shattered and thrice as hard to mend

~(7/18/14)

This one goes out to all you beautiful people living a happy facade day after day.

Hang in there. We can and will make it through stronger than we ever were. You'll see.
