She seems quiet, calm and collected on the outside
But when her quiet shell breaks, and she peeps one sound
It seems as if all hell breaks lose
Just one thought spoken aloud
Leads to harm, hurt and pain
Maybe that’s why she stayed silent all those years
To keep people from her scary thoughts and dreams

For all the times she’s broken down and cried her heart out
She’s stayed calm and smooth on the outside
Like a porcelain doll, but even those have faults
It’s just harder to see with the plastic smiles and glassy eyes
The scars easily covered with white, covering the marks
Mistakes that cover her body are camouflaged;
By the bright colorful cloths adorned with frill

Or maybe the colors and ruffle aren’t for decoration but are patches of old memories and happiness sewn together to remind her of the good times

To keep her in check with reality, to have an anchor keeping her in place.

To keep her sane.
