Poem for Women

A woman’s voice
It is a weapon her tool
she was not given this for no reason
For years her voice has been smothered silenced
Her opinions weren’t good enough to be heard
Her voice overshadowed by those of a deeper tone
It was lost in a sea of No’s
Put in a world where she was meant for one role
And that was to cook and raise his babies
But baby
Why do I feel like I was meant for more
The first time a woman said no
She was punished
But her voice rang loud and clear
It shattered the paradigms of the time
Paradigms of men of generations following
One day women became leaders

Their voices rose high and kissed the sky

Revolutions were starting
***Women chose their own destinies

She could say no to submission
And own a business
The clicking of her heels was not the sound of daintiness
It was the sound of taking charge
Of intimidating those below her
A woman could keep her kids in line and her employees at the same time
Yes that meant the boss was coming

Some women were meant for sneakers
Meant for jeans
Felt more comfortable in sweat pants
Some women could work harder than a man ever would
She knows that appearance doesn’t make a woman
And she never needed a man to teach her how to shoot 3’s
She never backed down from a challenge
**Once a small group of girls wanted more than what they were given

They were outcasts

But they didn’t let the judgements of their time stop them from fighting
**These girls knew that there was opportunity far greater
**And with time these girls became women
I've found out that when something is unattainable others try to *tear-it-down * to their level. I'm not sure if it's ignorance or jealousy, but at the end of the day they wouldn't get accepted anyway.
