I sit here staring

At a blank piece of paper

Trying to think of a poem

I wish they made this easier.

I need to write a poem

About anything they say

But I just can’t get thoughts into words

And I don’t want it to sound cliché.

I want to write a poem

About something important to me

But I just can’t think of anything

That some something important would be.

I have so many dreams

I want to achieve so many things

I want to become a doctor

Work with kids, babies, and families.

And if only I knew how to write this poem

And win some scholarship money

And it would be nice, if I can find the time

To make such a winning poem rhyme.

Gosh, I just can’t think of anything

Spectacular, enlightening, and new

So I hope this paper is enough

And that this poem will do.
