Peter Pan's True Form

Mon, 08/21/2017 - 21:10 -- asipe

There once was, very dear to me,

A young boy only I could see.

He appeared to me every night,

Flying in my window like a kite.

The eternal boy was completely free,

And every night there cried his plea

That I would fly, follow the star

And go with him to a land afar

And one night, I finally decided

To take the chance this boy provided.

And so, I followed his guiding hand

As he led me off toward Neverland!

And Peter and I, off we flew,

To that beautiful place that only he knew.

And yet, one thing did me confound.

Why did I first have to hit the ground?

But I gave the incident no second thought,

And my own misgivings I fought.

For we were soaring to the second star to the right,

And Peter Pan and I went into the light.

I followed that tempting specter

Along his starward vector

But soon my body started fading,

My mortality began degrading.

Then I saw Peter's true form

And all around us a raging storm.

And I saw the boy that I had shadowed

Was but an apparition, its eyes hollowed.

I could no longer return home,

My life was no longer my own

I only had one choice that day.

I followed Peter Pan the rest of the way.
