Past faces ... a memory

Job 32:9

Great men are not always wise,
Nor do the aged always understand justice.

Faces of the past

Faces of the past … knocking on the door

Dreams of yesterday … reaching for the surface

Things that won’t last … getting to the core

Never had to pay … in the loss of purpose

Slowing down a bit … out of my control

Time once mine … in someone else’s grasp

Like a double hit … loosing one’s own goal

in a slow decline … towards a final gasp

Reality in hand … slowly fading sight

All seems blurred … in a fallen way

Not to understand … soft approaching fright

that seems curled … for the coming day

Waiting simply for … the most uncertain breath

as it slightly hisses … seeking to escape

What we’re hoping for … in this aftermath

of forgiven mischief ... dropping now all fake

Appearing as we are … unwrapped to the core

for all to observe … without any cover

Truth not too far … depravity’s galore

It takes lots of nerve … then not to bother
