Passive minds

Matthew 13:22-23

22 The seed sown among thorns is the person who hears the word, but worldly cares

and the seductiveness of wealth choke the word, so it produces nothing.

23 But as for the seed sown on good soil, this is the person who hears the word and understands.

He bears fruit, yielding a hundred, sixty, or thirty times what was sown.”

Oh, passive mind!

You offer outside forces the opportunity

to take you at their will.

You are easily deceived

and are not sensitive.

You are like a coat in a closet

just waiting to be used.

There is little in you

that can be called positive.

You are inviting other forces

and are easily confused.

You have no resistance

for you want to be you.

You do not think by yourself

and seldom seem to reason.

You never investigate

or measure what to do.

You are just like putty

in someone else’s hands.

You are only activated

by powers outside yourself.

The light of the bible

seems indifferent to you.

You don’t care about God’s thoughts

for you are not responsible to self.
