Paradise

Sun, 11/18/2012 - 22:03 -- CBat

The balmy breezes of paradise
sweep past my face,
leaving an essence of coconut
to keep me company.
I lounge in my tree bungalow,
sipping sweet sorrows away,
listening to Jamaican song
whispering in my ear.
It’s as beautiful as a conch shell
washing up onto the beach.
Sprinkled with a splash of color…
glittering with supple drops of ocean spray.
Palm trees sway,
dancing to the tropical music.
Splurging on strawberry sorbet,
I take in the last moments of sunlight
and say goodnight to Poseidon’s treasure.
Another glance of the coral sand
Lets me peek at miniature hermits
Scurrying into their holes,
hiding ‘til the last hues of sunset disappear
and the silvery moon looms in the sky.
My secret getaway is a Lotus.
Each time the tide comes in,
It wipes away misery
and creates foamy keepsakes
to embrace for the continuance of life.
It is the rebirth of the ocean.
The ebb and flow of liquid sapphire
eventually rocks me to sleep.
My imagination wanders
off into the water.
Tiny umbrellas marooned in a coconut hut
along with a sandbar of pineapple
create a scene of edible indulgence,
a duplicate retreat of tranquility.
Dazzling reflections dancing along
shades of azure and turquoise
make dreaming about Isis’
island all worthwhile.
