My dream job is to serve as a doctor

I never thought this kind of occupation could open for me

But the more my heart grows for the people,

I burst with a fight inside

A fight to beat cancer for others

A fight to encourage children that they will make it through their sickness

A fight to stand by the elders’ side and give them hope about the struggling diseases

I want to offer hope and breathe life of encouragement to patients

I want to set an example to other doctors and encourage them that life is not about money

It is about standing beside the broken

It is about reaching a helping hand to the weak

It is about believing in their inner strength

I can offer the strength that has been given to me unto others

I can cheer them on to keep fighting the good fight

I can rebuke the illness through the work of medical hands

Through the practice of countless science classes and strenuous medical school

Through the rough path of upholding a high grade point average and believing in myself

Through the encouragement of others to stay on the route to pursue medicine

I know it will be worth it

It will be worth it to help save a life

It will be worth it remove the pain from patients

It will be worth it to show value to an individual

I want them to know that they are worth taking care of

They are worth my struggle in school

They are worth the time, effort, and sleepless nights I will invest

Because they have people who love them

They are plans and dreams just like me

Because I have been given the faith of being more than a conqueror

I can lend out that faith into others

Maybe one day, I can guard up in my medical scrub and stand beside a dying patient and whisper,

“Don’t give up,  Don’t give up” 

“You have what it takes to be an overcomer”

As an overcomer, I will make it through school

As an overcomer, I can teach others what it means to overcome

Overcome all sickness and diseases

Overcome all heartaches and trying times

Overcome, because it is in our National DNA

An overcomer.
