Stifled. Smothered.
Caged by others.
What’s crucial and essential—
Not your words.
Their expectations.
Not Beyond.
Society never trusted
the voice of women;
history never portrayed us except
as a wife and mother.

Progression—raising children by choice,
with the forethought to guide them in life-altering decisions,
yet, still, in politics, lacking a voice?
Women expressed their discontent
in the Declaration of Sentiments
while Anthony and Stanton
created an Association
to promote freedom in
the suffrage of women.
A right to vote was earned
but, even now, women are still advancing;
new freedoms each day are gained.
A movement which keeps moving,
it’s how our nation was founded
and how women’s voice was claimed.
