Out To Catch Some Hope

Location

You cast out your line
baited with insecurities
the little fish nibble
pulling you apart
the bobber bounces
like a warning siren
but you shove it down
until the last air bubble
breaks at the surface
of this shallow lake
one blink, nod or flinch
and suddenly the bobber
is looking down on you
as you lay on your back
sinking to the bottom
where the crawdads
pick from the remains
