Our True Heroes

Who is your hero?
Is it superman, flying through the skies?
Or your parent, with whom your future lies
And though I agree that they are heroes
A different one is in need of an intro

This hero roams across the land
With his machine gun tight in hand
Continuing to fight while his comrades fall
For him it's been a very long haul

He is at his job twenty four-seven
He doesn't get a break, not for a second
He stands tall and he stands true
Sticking up for our red white and blue

He is a soldier, tough and lean
And though he seems a mean fighting machine
He just wants to hold his child again
He always wonders how his family has been

Though doing his duty, he wants to be home
Instead he's in a country unknown
Diving and hiding all night and day
Coming out to fight and slay

Dressed in all army greens
Sunshine giving his dog tag a sheen
Walking tall and straight faced
His new home is his army base

A soldier is a real hero, strong and true
The best hero to look up to
And through our losses that we recoup
I will always support our troops
