Our People

We do not have the power to

see as clearly as we used to.

We are told to not judge a book

by its cover, and yet-

woman put on a mask every day.

We are told that something's worth has

nothing to do with its price tag, and yet-

brand names still exist.

We are told to treat others the way

we wish to be treated, and yet-

people are judged

for the way they do their hair,

for the family they are born from,

for the house they live in,

for the grade they get on a test,

for what their older siblings did,

for the way they do their hair,

for what kind of shoes they wear.

We judge people,

but we don't want to be judged.
