our nation

They are scared, they fear, they suppress my uniform
They demoralize my people because of what we represent
Just because of the way we communicate, look, and express ourselves
We were forced to live in the shade because of our thoughts
I didn’t ask to be born into a black, white, brown uniform
I just chose to fight inside of one
We have been placed in a nation of scavengers
Beating me, struggling against the odds to represent who I am
They have misjudged me
They want me to live in fear, because they fear who we are when united
United we stand greater, because numbers are power
But our actions will prove them wrong, no matter how long it takes
I’ll die trying to be equal just like them
