Our Home

Future generations,

I’m sorry we ruined

the beautiful place where we live.

I’m sorry that we leave our home

with not a care

that we won’t be able

to breath

the air.

I’m sorry we cut down the

beautiful trees

and made the amazing bees

become endangered.

The glaciers are melting

and countries are on fire.

While this is happening,

the right-wing conservatives

think we are liars.

Temperatures are rising

and everyone finds this surprising?
We need to take better care

because there is no spare.

We polluted the oceans

so much that we looted

the coral reefs

all because we had a misbelief.

A misbelief that our world wasn’t dying

but instead, we were thriving!

Our ocean is filled with so much poison

because even the idea of not using

plastic was so drastic.

We took our home for granted

because we were handed this planet.

We never thought we would be the

ones to drive animals to their extinction

because we didn’t even see their uniqueness.

We never feared

that the atmosphere

would reach a point where the sun

was so close that it would turn us into toast.

It was right under our nose,

but I guess that’s how it goes.

No one does anything until

it is already going downhill.

Our home needs our assistance

because our existence depends

on how this all ends.
