Life nowadays is not a jog or a walk,
But rather running for your life from a ferocious hawk.
Ever since I had been just a lad,
All I focused on was to just be glad.
Did not give a single care to the world,
Had not fathomed money, problems, or girls.
But then came a day when i had turned eight,
The day that I realized and my mind became straight.
My parents encouraged me to stick to my studies,
And later be appreciative while I hang with my buddies.
It was hard at first, and I wanted to quit,
But they kept on persisting, even during my fit.
Small steps I took, one by one
Until I took leaps to get the job done.
Because of their words, I have won,
Now I'm the best that I can be, second to none.
