Open Secrets

She hid her scars deep in her ribs
That way when you moved your hands across her body
You would not find her hurt
That way when i searched her heart
There was nothing to be seen
She keeps her secrets hidden in the grooves on her hands
Like maps carefully folded and saved for a special time
Tucked away but open if we had only wanted to read them
She locks her dreams behind her eyes
They'd be safe there
Because we never bothered to look inside them
We never cared for who she really was
Only her hips and long hair
And good god her lips
