Only

Location

When I was young

I had a special friend

And right from the start

I knew he'd be there thill the end.

We didn't need to talk

He knew my every thought

Sometimes I ignored him,

But we never really fought.

We'd play morse code with the stars

Or at least with my nightlight

Mostly, we sat and talked,

silently filling firefly jars.

I couldn't see him

but I knew he was there

it took awhile to realize,

but he is always there.

I grew up alone,

but please dont call me 'only'

It's when God leaves me

that I will truly be lonely.
