That One Job

There was always that one question we were asked growing up,

"What do you want to be when you grow up?

At the time many possibilities crossed our mind.

A fireman, an astronaut, a policeman, a doctor...

We wanted to be everything,

And no one had a second thought about it.

Now when we are asked

"What do you want to be when you grow up?"

We're not so quick to answer.

You can only choose ONE JOB.

That job dictates how you enjoy your life and make a living.

Now when you ask me what I want to be there is a definitive answer,

An Engineer.

Most people can reach other careers through experience and build their way from the ground up.

Not as an engineer.

You need to make the grades,

But to do it your college has to be paid.

It is a long daunting road ahead, but I will take every step of the way

To have that one job,

To live comfortably,

To make a living,

To spends years of my life doing what I enjoy

Because if you enjoy what you do you never work a day in your life.

So I will jump every hurdle,

Whether it be finances or criticism

I will go the distance to have,

That One Job.
