One Hell of a Year

2016 came around

Basketball dominated my mind. It gave me joy I had found

It was my last season

I was sad for it to end, and for a good reason

It was my passion, it gave me life

It had treated me well, like a loving wife.

However the ride was over, it was time to move on

To the younger players, I would pass the baton

As sad as I was losing the fun

I knew the journey had just begun.

Before I knew it, it was time to graduate

Sitting on the stage for my diploma I would wait

Valedictorian, what a deed

I was the happiest I had ever been, indeed

Before I knew it, it was off to college

For me, it was the pursuit of scientific knowledge

What a new world, it was a new beginning

I couldn't help but spend most of my time grinning

Classes got hard, boy it was a grind

But succeed I must, so I can become a doctor and help mankind

Every fiber of me was tested

However when grades came out I was not bested.

Success had found me once again

I was happy, and it was sweet like sugar cane.

But now the year is over

It came and it went, like a plane doing a fly over

Mistakes were made, triumphs were enjoyed

But ultimately barriers were destroyed

I am a different man, my have I grown

That can be heavily attributed to having my nose to the grindstone

2016, oh what a year

I cannot wait for 2017 to premier.
