One Dream

Sex trafficking happens around the world

Many women suffer as they are sold and taken away from their families

They become helpless in the circumstance

How is it possible for anyone to do something so cruel?

Do they not have a heart?

What has happened to society in allowing them to believe that that is okay?

I cannot imagine what their daily lives must be

What they must endure every single day

The physical suffering being the least of their problems

And I don’t find that okay

It is not fair that there are people who have things handed to them in a silver plate

While others are suffering

Everyone should have an equal opportunity in life

Everyone should be allowed to dream

Is it not horrible for someone’s dream to be freedom?

To ask what has been robbed of them?

Life is unfair

And I am fully aware

But if there was a way that I could change all of it I would

When being sold it is probable for them to feel worthless

To think less of themselves because of the situation

But who are we as humans to find someone else less valuable?

To have the power to hand off someone as if we own them?

Nothing makes someone more worthy than the other

No one should have to go through that pain

Through horror

We easily forget what happens around us and become consumed by our own problems

But do we ever stop and wonder what someone else might be going though?
