Hit one, hit two,
chaos falls upon you.
Scream three, scream four,
survivors try to find a door.
People jump, people run,
people reach out towards the sun.
People cry, people pray,
in hopes that they will live today.
Some are lost, some are found,
some lay dead upon the ground.
There is fire, there is ash,
two buildings collapsed from a plane crash.
Pictures, film, recording sounds,
spread the word all around.
We wear our stripes, we wear our stars,
a day forever in our hearts.

I wrote this poem as a 9/11 tribute poem. When the towers went down I was still a kid and didn't fully understand what was going on. The poem has a "nursery rhyme" feel because I wanted to write it through a seven-year-old's perspective. Right now there is a lot of hate and tragedy in the world. I hope this poem inspires people to stay united as a country, as well as remind people of that sad day in American history.
