Once Upon A Poem

In this beautiful festive town,

There stood a little girl,

The city was full of sound,

She saw a beautiful world,

People dancing all around,

So excited she did a twirl,

Laughing so hard they fell down,

She cried tears as she swirled,

Everyone stopped and looked with astound,

As they watched the black girl leap,

People saw her jump for joy as she bounced on her feet,

She cried out "Do you see me Dad!" as she looked up and weeped,

People began coming over and gathered in the street,

They began dancing with her as they followed her beat,

She remebered his smile showing his perfect teeth,

Eating his world famous gumbo when it was dinner time,

He gave her everything and he didn't want a dime,

She remembered his love and how he loved her mother,

She knew that she could carry his legacy no other,

He may have died in war but the gumbo still lives on,

She will open her restuarant and continue going strong,

She looked towards the sky and stared for a while,

Others seen nothing but she saw a smile,

She knew her father was proud and she could make him even prouder,

She began to dance even harder as if the music had gotten louder.
