Once in a Life Time

Never before have I seen what they have missed,

How has it passed without a single memory,

Some people laugh while others cry,

As the fog laden air leaves they still miss it,

It is right in front of them,

By now there glassy eyes have passed on,

Leaving the beauty behind,

The picture was right there,

A once in a lifetime chance,

Only to be ignored.

I could never forget that day,

It was a crystal blue sky nothing but blue,

There was no such thing as a breeze,

Calm and still,

My breath came out in puffs of frozen air,

The frozen mountains,

Crisp blue lakes as clear as glass,

Never have they been toughed,

Clear and beaconing,

My feet disappear in the snow with every step,

Leaving a faint trail behind me,

The tinny diamonds spin through the air with every step,

Reaching down I touch the sapphire water,

Rings after rings float out across the lake.

Snow flakes start to fall from a bright blue sky,

Landing on the lake with a very light touch,

Sending small ripples everywhere I looked,

Looking down I see my reflection with piercing detail

How is it possible to miss this,

Looking back I can still see their glassy eyes pass by,

I turn back to the lake to see another reflection,

Soon I feel a hand on my shoulder,

It is time to go,

I will return some time to let my thoughts flow free.
