Ode To Roxie

You peed on my carpet and you pooped on my floor.
For some reason at first, you were scared of the kitchen door.
Once you slobbered on my ex and boy she pitched a fit.
I still recall the day I picked you up, though Ashley wanted a pit.

Playing fetch for hours, never once did you bring it back.
Scooby can't hold a candle to you when it comes time to snack.
Tug of war and keep away games, I always let you win.
Little did I know those years ago, you'd be my bestest friend.

You'd catch every piece of food ever thrown your way.
Now it's hard for you to see and hear, oh how I curse this day.
A year ago, an open gate and you were lost for a week.
Devastated, as you looked at me, when I found you by the creek.

You love everyone and filled the house with laughter.
Soon ol' girl you'll be young again, running fast in the ever after.
Your not very mobile now, so I carry you in and out.
Putting up with me and all this, never once have I saw you pout.

I know what needs to be done, it's really best for you.
Only when your but a loved memory, a piece of me will die too.
I'll dig the hole and place you there, by your favorite log.
Though the world think I a hard ass, forever shall I miss my dog.
