Ode To the Coach
This one is for the the coach that changed my life.
He didn’t just teach me about a game,
He taught me about so much more.
He showed me how to strive, persevere, and work hard.
When he yelled at me it wasn’t that he was mad at me,
He saw potential where I did not see any.
He only knew one way of getting it out of me,
And even though I didn’t like being yelled at then,
He helped me become the person I am today.
He always tried to help me see outside the box,
Just because you are told to do something a certain way,
Doesn’t mean you can’t think for yourself.
We always needed to try and think for ourselves,
And we were always encouraged to be creative.
She showed me how to be confident.
That I was worth something to myself and the people around me.
She helped to shape me into the person that I am today,
And I really like the person that I am today.
This is isn’t just for one coach,
Because every coach taught me something different.
They all had two things in common with one another,
One, they all knew how to ice skate,
Two, they all were able to make an impact on my life.
Thank you for helping me become a better person,
Because without you, I don’t know where I’d be today.
