Ode to Brownies

              An Ode to Brownies

Dear chocolate square from heaven,

I can’t live without the taste

Of chocolate, eggs, milk, flour, sugar,

When I see you, I rush in haste.

You’re firm and don’t fall apart,

Yet at the slightest bite

You melt in my mouth

Nice and soft, just right

Shaped like a cube

As brown as my eyes,

I always see you around

But every time you’re a surprise

The waft of chocolate hits me

And I almost want to faint

You smell so perfectly

So sweet, rich, and quaint.

Brownie, I adore you

Like I adore a dear friend

Your pleasant taste, smell, and feel

Satisfies me to no end.
