The Ode to Bed

So sleepy, watching Jorge doze before

The lure of bedtime takes my feverish brain

Away to dreams that make my heart soar

All doubts and fears go back to where they came.

In dreams, I do not dwell on failure, nor

Commitments—I find opportunities

New ways to reach goals I’ve been working toward--

New perspectives from a subconscious me.

I sleep, and am finally at peace

No longer frazzled.  All is well

And he’s beside me, arms around me, all-

Protecting.  What a miracle befell

This girl whose fears are vanquished by her bed

And Jorge, knight who out of shadows lead.
