Obscurity

Location

To conform

Is to comply with the norm,

To cower in fear of rejection,

Afraid to admit imperfection,

To see only what others have seen; to hear only what others have heard,

Believing that contemplation and self-reflection are things much absurd,

Flouting the works of others, seeking affection,

Unable to find your own direction,

Yet differences should not be hidden from creation,

Or quarantined like some awful aberration,

But brandished proudly for the world to observe,

For it is individualism that we must preserve,

Individualism is the spirit that drives man to innovation

Pursuing his passions with a fiery dedication

To reign free of others’ opinions

Becoming the sole monarch of your mind’s dominions

Exist not through others; find your own path,

Living as though writing your own epitaph

Would it say you were distinct, exceptional in any form?

Or merely another soul, who never strayed from the norm

History rarely remembers the masses,

A single identity often surpasses,

For to sacrifice potential in hopes of security,

Will only result in the bleakest obscurity,
