Obscurity

It goes by like a flash of lightning,

An instant of unmistakable revealment.

For a split second it can be seen,

Breaking through the struggled concealment.

It remains in shadows day in and day out,

Desperately wishing to stay obscure.

But the effort tires and temptations arise,

The walls of occultation no longer secure.

It whispers against the skin of secrecy,

Every breath intimately heavy with desire.

Yet still the door of arcane refuge is closed,

And the need to be sheltered is ever dire.

It incessantly resists the light of wisdom,

Hoping to dodge the silent awareness.

But much like the inevitable cracks of time,

Reality defies all aspects of fairness.

It is caught beneath watchful suspicion,

Weakness grows in the armor after a while.

Now it is known to the eye of the beholder,

There is a reason behind every smile.
