oblivion

she blinks, eyes blank.

crushed memories
shards of glassy dreams.
the bitter gall of disappointment chokes down her throat like thorns,
and the soft rose petals lay bruised and torn on the ground.

suffocating

how will she get back up this time?
she finds herself, lost
engulfed by the overwhelming numbness.
where is the exit? where are the brakes?
how can she begin to gather her broken heart?
heart dust.
she lays heaving on the harsh floor, too shocked to comprehend her reality.

her eyes close.
