Obliged

At last

You took a step forward to understand me,

A puzzle from the past I was

Repeated in each age

You drew yourself away from me,

And I did not resist

Then on

Both breathed freely and felt at ease,

We could see each other,

Toiling to exist, fend off foes

And build firm bridges to unite,

Gradually I ceased to be a puzzle,

There was nothing concealed of me,

Not even an old dry date

I held in my fist.
