Numbness

What good is a thought
When left unshared?
What good is emotion?
When no one cares?
What good is a smile
When it's not real
And if numbness exists
Then why can we feel
The aching inside
Cannot be fully disguised
Just smothered
With narcotics
Until it slowly dies
Yet this battle between pain
And the inability to feel
Seems nonsensical
Because of the fact that numbness
Can be felt and sometimes it hurts
More than whats real
You can sense the denial
That leaked into your veins
And the only hope is that it lasts awhile
Gives you time to think before you're tossed back into reality
That makes you so angry
So hopelessly lost
A hurricane of emotions
All coming for you at once
This is certainly the consequence
The crash after a high
Survival of the fittest
The fight to stay alive
