Now Is the Time

We do not inherit the earth
We merely borrow
Now is the time to be responsible
Not wait for tomorrow

Every tree that lines
The Appalachian Trail
Every river that runs
We cannot fail

For every one
Of the Great Lakes
As high as a cloud
Are the stakes

The deserts that line
The Continental Divide
Must be protected
There is no other side

The beauty that is
The Pacific coast
Must remain a treasure
Of which we can boast

The global warming
And all of its strife
Is a threat to all
A threat to life

Do not take for granted
The land, water, and air
Now is the time to act
There is little time to spare
