November Day at School
In high school
You are rewarded freedom
With your license
An adult now
Everyone desired that freedom
Practicing with my mom
I fought to achieve this freedom
In late fall
It felt like a normal school day
Hallways filled with students
Whispering
Saddened
But not your typical sad student
Asking for cause of this mournful setting
Someone says,
“Hallie was in a car accident and he mother died”
My head spun
Waves of confusion
Sorrow
Anger
Shock hit me
Like a landslide of pebbles
Hitting one by one
Then all at once
Driving can be a great reward
Great rewards comes responsibilities to it
The thought of driving
Doing nothing wrong and to have someone I love die
I could not bear the thought
I learned that a license is not a treasure
It is a death card
