Nothing New

Acts 14:15-16

15 and saying, “Men, why are you doing these things? We also are men with the same nature as you, and preach to you that you should turn from these useless things to the living God, Who made the heaven, the earth, the sea, and all things that are in them, 16 Who in bygone generations allowed all nations to walk in their own ways.

Surely in the night light shines the brightest

Cares of the day just hide the rays of life

Noises of much busyness quench the quietness

That’s needed to embrace the loveliness of Christ

Surely in the heart are issues of life preselected

Priorities and desires are molding the day’s hunger

The flesh in its own way wants there to be perfected

As spiritual issues are quenched not wanted any longer

A contradiction resides between facts and fiction

With fiction in the lead in love with its illusion

Reality sets in when despair destines the motion

For the cause of the needy to get their just portion

Living in a dream-world and riding on the clouds

Imagination flourishes in the escape from self

Emptiness then covers that what it’s all about

As hanging on to nothingness becomes a wishing-well

Long live the chosen self as a blinded entity

Wave the hands in victory after losing every battle

Life here has grown for self as a chosen commodity

Till the end of the day reality will shake and rattle
