Not too far

Hosea 6:1

Superficial Repentance Breeds False Assurance of God’s Forgiveness

“Come on! Let’s return to the Lord!
He himself has torn us to pieces,
but he will heal us!
He has injured us,
but he will bandage our wounds!

Not too far

Hanging on to assurance … as with feeble steps I move

through life made uncertain … by giving in to every mood.

What is broken can be mended … but can it really heal?

I don’t seem to have that power … although it has appeal.

By faith, I can move mountains … I know that to be true.

But I never moved even little … unless I kicked it like the flu.

I guess myself is shrouded … I am covered with a veil.

The one I picked by own choosing … as I walk a trackless trail.

Following simple directions … wherever my feet will lean

with my hands stretched forward … closing in on a ravine.

Can’t see much moving forward … I am so used to the dark.

My self-made faith seems to point... to destruction not too far.
