not 'black' enough: a different voice pt1

Society lives in a bubble of sterotypes.

A variety of trends. And trends that follow sterotypes.

What happens if you don't fit into the uniform of sterotypes?

Or the pace of shallow trends?

What if I'm a black girl without a 'ghetto' voice?

Will my life still make noise..

even if society believes that originality is not a choice?

What if I never fit into the sterotypes of my race?

Will my life lead to disgrace? Where is the grace of acceptance?

I'm often accused for not being 'black enough'

Ultimately, I just don't get it.

What makes one, ..'black enough'?

I thought that race is only a color and that race shouldn't define a person.

Do all black people speak 'ghetto slang'? ..saying 'nah-wat-I-mean-mane'?

Do all black people have to be from the hood?

I'm just wondering when they say these things, .. Are they saying that I should be aiming for 'no good'.

I can't help the way I talk, w/a soft and proper accent. I was blessed with this voice,

& with God's help, & from this moment on, I'm gonna make noise.
