Noctilucent Nightmare

I tried to wake up but they stood around my bed
they resembled the individual shafts on a cage
they took my arms and wrapped them around my waist
before i knew it my limbs became a tyrannous girdle
that punctured through tissues and fibers
like a provoked bear clawing through tangled vines in a forest
my bed became a crimson sponge
a ruby stained in oppression
a cloud of carnage

I clear my throat just to be suffocated
by deities whose footsteps fall so silently.
Welcome the gift that keeps on killing me.
Somehow these images bid some countenance
to the extent of embodied sentiment.

As I clamber, these mountains get steeper
and as I crawl, these winds stir with assault.
whimsical flowers never sprout
when they do they just get pulled from the ground.
reaped and pillaged

My hands are heavy and my ankles are chained
held captive by the soil of my own thoughts and insecurities
but i'll never give in to wings so depraved
to take me to an ecstasy that I don't believe
I refuse to be like you
just another building standing where the grass used to breathe

this demon may vanish tomorrow
but whos to say he won't revisit me
in an altered anatomy
to play me another nightmare.
a malign melody.
