No turning back

Luke 9:62 New English Translation (NET Bible)

62 Jesus said to him, “No one who puts his hand to the plow and looks back is fit for the kingdom of God.”

Where to go from here my brother?

Should we go back to where we started?

The way back must be much harder

As bad memories are often discarded

To go forward seem not likely

The path before us is not well defined

The map of faith does not show clearly

The places and curbs so oft undermined

“Step out on faith”, such an easy phrase

Often repeated and hammered slowly in

In this race oft reminded of steeple-chase

Where the great advisors do seldom win

To tell others repeatedly what to do

Has turned into a well-developed habit

Although habits never have a clue

About the ways as they can’t get it

A circle when drawn loosely in the sand

On a windy day filled with false doctrine

Maybe the few that really understand

Cannot express calls of night’s nocturne
