New Year

Why do some people make it seem like when we flip the calendar everything is going to change,

Because, to me, the thought of doing that has always been kind of strange.

Why do we put so much thought into the "New year, New me" phase,

Why is this day any different from the other three hundred and sixty four days?

Doesn't it make sense that if you want something it doesn't matter the time of year,

Because if you want it bad enough, than your visions and goals should be clear.

I feel like when you do this, you are setting yourself up to fail,

Because the second that things get tough, it is easier to forget the resolutions and bail.

It it safe to say that if it is something that you really want, you are constantly going to work on it,

Because if you wait for a certain date to start, then you are more likely going to quit.

There is nothing wrong with making new year's resolutions, and I am not saying that they are bad,

But the fact that people say that they are going to wait for the new year to start does make me a little mad.

There is so much time that is wasted because you are waiting for this certain date,

But don't get me wrong, I do understand that want for waiting to start with a clean slate.

However, what if you mess up already on that first day? Are you just going to start fresh the next day,

Because it seems like this is going to be a continuing cycle, and things are going to remain that way.

All I am saying, is that if it is something that you really want, you shouldn't want to wait to start,

Because it has to be something that sets your soul on fire, and that you feel in your heart.

These times are rough, and maybe that is why everyone is excited for the new year,

So if you are excited, may you be filled with faith, hope and love, and much less fear.
