The New Revolution

America the beautiful,  Land of the free.  The richest and most powerful nation, Filled to the brim with color. Whose ancestors fought and died Against oppressors and the unjust. So those in bondage can achieve the so-called American dream.  Life, liberty, the pursuit of happiness. These beliefs were so passionately fought for.  To the dismay that generations and generations  Had forgotten this simple dream.  And now it is up to us.  The new, the bold, the self-aware,  To rekindle that forgotten, dying flame of purpose.  And it is not a mere battle for dignity,  But for the very heart of our nation.  We must not let the ashes form to dust, But use them as a reminder  Of who we really are.  Use them to reform the burning light that is our nation. The light that creates hope instead of sorrow.  Equality instead of prejudice. These are the ideals of our nation. And now, it is our time to fight.  And now, we will rise up from the ashes. And aid in the rebirth of the land of the free.  And the new revolution has already begun,  And if we execute it in a way that is peaceful, We have already won. For violence only creates hate upon hate, Until the result is only destruction. If we fight with our fists  And our guns and our knives, We will lose our stance as those who stand above.  If we fight with our words and our motions and our notions,  We will win a stance as those who do not stand, But walk above.  If we revolt in a way that does not harm,  But help and create. The seed of our nation will grow  Instead of wilt. And if we tend to this seed with care, And words and love,  We will grow up and into The notion our founding fathers so strongly protected.  The notion our nation was built upon. The love that our government was constructed to give. Then, we will live as one. Then, the segregation of our nation will end.  In a cleansing, beautiful fire. Rather than one that blackens and kills.
