New Leaf

I don’t remember my face looking that way;

I don’t remember my eyes shining so bright;

I don’t remember my smile being so stunning

Or my face being so bright.

I don’t remember my hips curving so sweetly

Or my shoulders sloping like a queen’s

I don’t remember my walk being so confident

Like a general with her army

I don’t remember the motivation

That never seems to stop

I don’t remember the drive

That does anything but drop

I hear a different voice now when I open my mouth;

I see my eyes without dark circles, and I’m not sure why —

I sleep less now than I ever did —

I feel a new happiness glowing in my heart,

Radiating in a way that can never be hidden.
