Never the Same

A boy died, and we acknowledge that
A man's life is distorted; we disregard that.
A tragedy occurred that night,
Despite whether Zimmerman's actions were wrong or right.
As the media, we exploit the man that pled the fifth and declined taking the stand.
We, as a whole, demand justice
through actions of the righteous.
Have we stopped, though, to ask:
"What about this man? He will never be the same."
Trayvon's gone, but what about Zimmerman's pain?
The man can never go back to what he had,
Do you care?
Before you start pointing fingers, are you aware?
The law, the statutes, the state,
Are you aware of the cost of this man's fate?
We've all done a good job of placing blame,
I assure, this act wasn't done for fifteen minutes of fame.
Trayvon is in peace now,
But individuals still see retribution by putting Zimmerman down.
Tell me:
Were you there that night? Did you see that fight?
Tell me:
Did you speak to George? Did you ask he what went through his mind when he left from his car door?
Tell me:
Did you watch the case before you made accusations that acted as slap in the face?
Tell me:
What is the justice you seek when the jury said there was nothing more than a tragedy of bleak.
Tell me now, friend:
Is the justice you seek through the belief of a racial discrete?
Are you out to get answers or revenge?
If it's revenge that you henge on, are you wrong?
Why are we all out to humiliate a man that's already been raped of all he had?
One life for another, we don't see that to be bad?
If you can have a clear conscious while trying to justify the unjustifiable,
or if you are looking to make a wrong out of a misplaced,
I ask you, where's the good with making decisions in haste?
Are you comfortable with your opinion or are you an echo of another?
In God's eyes, we're all sister and brothers.
If you're unreligious, that's okay too.
But to ruin a man's life, how does that make Zimmerman different from you?
I am not saying your opinion is wrong,
I am not saying your being overdrawn.
I am asking:
Is your opinion your own?
Or are you sucked into another's zone?
Is it your choice of thought,
Or one of another that you've sought?
