Navy Girl Lost

Tue, 04/30/2013 - 20:57 -- Kateira

Rolling onto her side,

She determined to ignore the aching pain beneath her chest

Closing her eyes,

she waited for the void of sleep to wiilingly claim her once again.

Sighing with exhaustion,

Minutes later she realized her pillow was as drenched as the tattered blue hat
found sailing on the recently calmed sea.

Turning over left,

She sobbed at the unfamiliar coolness
that side of the bed now held.

Shipwrecked, how she felt.

The irony not lost on her.
Her heart burning in agony, as that of the ashes left over from the explosion.

Nothing to be revived,

The last day on dock
a sea of navy blue both on and off the ship
waved goodbye.

And she mourns

For Those same waters
now wash away the memories.

All at rest
With him, her navy seal
