The Name

Tue, 09/17/2013 - 09:48 -- LWhit

Oh that “America” starts with “A”

A sign of starting anew

Perhaps that’s why each new immigrant

Exemplifies ambition too

For whether peasant, master, order, or disaster

Origin discriminates us not

With advent to this fair country

New starts and opportunities each hath bought

Cooked and infused in the “melting pot”

These both all peoples shall taste

And with divine blessing from God above

Ne’er shall you or I ungratefully waste

Discerning politically and rugged individually

Always fight for what you see

And take on the name “American”

By which we know we are free
